#BMW IDRIVE VERSIONS MANUAL#
The dealer updated my X3 and I now have Android Auto, but using this imprint method in the online manual to show the version, it says 11/19. The software version showed a 2019 release so I updated the app and it then read. I did not realise this also included software version until I followed your post and did an "imprint" search in the guide.

Very helpful, a lot of people do not realise that the BMW drivers guide app, being VIN specific, is tailored to their exact car configuration.

I believe that at time of this post, this is the latest release version which one would expect as dealer update was done only two days ago. So, it confirms my car is G01 with ID7 and 11/2020 release version. I did not realise this also included software version until I followed your post and did an “imprint” search in the guide.

Now you can check the Imprint in the APP and it will show the installed software version too. If you have it installed already it's now essential to update the information in the APPs car setting. Get the BMW drivers guide APP (tested on iPhone and Android) and log in with your connected drive account. You will get a page with information about your iDrive software with the usual month/year format commonly used.Īnd for the lazy ones you can even read it out without leaving the house. Today I tested an alternative method of getting the version number of the iDrive 7 software.Īs shown above you can read it on the map version screen in the lower section in Year/weak format.īut you can also go to the online user manual in the car and search for the term "imprint". Thanks again to forum members who answered my queries and helped me get this sorted. As some posts show, BMW are telling people G01/G02 OTA updates are available on some sites and not on others. I think part of the problem is early ID7 did not have android auto, other models get OTA updates, but X3 due to older hardware cannot and BMW have allowed updates for G01/G02 with ID7 to be quietly forgotten. The technician even told me I would have to wait, minimum overnight, for car system to get OTA information from BMW servers before android auto would appear on idriive. In fairness to my dealership the technician went away and came back with full knowledge of issue and sorted. I would however say that the master technician had to have it explained, after stating that no special android update was available, that general software update was all that was needed. My dealership were very helpful, it helped that I had been assured android auto was included and when it was not they agreed to do the software update.

If you read through the thread you will some see helpful hints about how to persuade the dealer to update, otherwise perhaps consider biting the bullet and pay for the 1 hr technician time. Second screen shot, after dealer software update, software version with android auto.

Below are pics of before and after showing software versions.įirst screen shot, software version without android auto. I got my software updated a couple of days ago. Others have explained ID7 versions that are pre 07-2020 do not have android auto.
